Aton Forest2_2012-09

On June 15, 2013 Larry Weaner will lead a Naturalistic Landscaping Workday at the historic Aton Forest, a 1,100 tract of land assembled by Dr. Frank Egler as a Research Natural Area. A plant ecologist and active conservationist, Dr. Egler conducted over fifty years of long-term, place-based studies of natural processes and vegetation change. His prescient books and articles were often written in an entertaining, irreverent style and his work and experiences greatly informed Rachel Carson in the writing of her famous Silent Spring (1962).

Larry will walk the fields and woods of Aton Forest with board members and affiliates and lead discussion of ways to create and demonstrate aesthetically pleasing design in Aton’s wild landscape.
