To celebrate the arrival of spring and to visit with our good friend Jeff Lynch (formerly a Project Manager in our office and now on the senior staff at Chanticleer Gardens), the LWLA team spent a recent afternoon at Chanticleer in Wayne, PA. It was great to have a day out of the office in the ever-whimsical, ever-inspiring, ever-creative gardens of Chanticleer.

We spent much of the afternoon touring Bell’s Woodland, Chanticleer’s native woodland garden, in an informal tour led by that section’s gardener, Przemyslaw Walczak. We learned about his interesting work with hugelkultur to capture and direct water flow, some of his favorite plant combinations, and the myriad challenges he has faced in restoring a native woodland.

We also got a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of the amazing ADA-accessible ramp designed by Jonathan Alderson & Associates and learned from staff member Jonathan Wright about Chanticleer’s planting plans for that area.  It promises to be a stunning feature and we look forward to seeing it open.

We went home feeling refreshed and full of lots of new ideas. Thank you Jeff, Przemyslaw, Jonathan, and all the great folks at Chanticleer!
